Events listed below may be associated with FDNZ, its members or affiliates, but all are bound to be heaps of fun!!

Special Events

Saturday 26th May

Renaissance Ball

Join the Society for Creative Anachronism for an evening of dancing and revelry, straight from the courts of Renaissance Italy! There will be dancing from 7pm, a light supper, medieval games of chance and strategy, and fun for all.

The dances will be chosen on the night by those attending the ball. Some you'll need to have practised in advance, some will be fine to just join in. If you'd like to learn some Renaissance dances in advance, you would be very welcome at Katherine's Thursday-night classes.

Where: St Phillips Presbyterian Church, aka North Shore Cook Islands Christian Church 136 Birkdale Road.

Price: adults $15, kids (6-16) $7, under 5 free - bookings preferred, but not required - please bring small dish of finger food to share.

Costume: please wear an attempt at medieval or renaissance costume; contact the organiser if you'd like to borrow something or need advice.

Saturday 11th August

Winter WarmUp

A non-stop extravaganza of beautiful performances, all-in revelling ,and on-demand Danish food.  This year starring the amazing Croatian dancers & musicians, their director from “Lado” of Zagreb! Mulled wine at 6pm, then soon into the dancing.

Bar open. Entry a gold coin. Raffle.

Where: Danish House 6 Rockridge Ave, Penrose (off O’Rorke Rd)

International Dance Workshop

A workshop will be held at Danish House on the day of the Winter WarmUp.  Andre van de Plas’ new repertoire will be flown out to us in time for a panel of our teachers to browse them and prepare to present a selection.

Lunch will be available for full-day participants and for half-day attendees who order by Saturday 4th August from Pam Sikkema, ph (09)570-4390 or email <marians99 @ free.net.nz>. Please advise any dietary constraints.

Fees (workshop and lunch) can be paid in advance (see below) or on the 
day.

  • $30 full day (incl. lunch), $15 half-day (no lunch).
  • Children $20/$10.
  • Half-day registrants can order lunch for $8 extra.

Resource Sets: CD, DVD and/or notations must be ordered and paid for by 30 June.  Email order to rstorey @ ihug.co.nz requesting payment instructions.  Prices:

  • The set (book, CD, and DVD) $75.00
  • Book $15, CD $25, DVD $35.00
  • If you need your resources sent to you instead of pick-up on the day, include $7.00 extra for P&P or couriering, and give your address for both delivery modes.
