Wellington Israeli Dance Group is delighted to announce: Machol Pacifica 2013with Shmulik Gov-Ari ![]() Now is the time to register! Early registration discount applies to the end of February. We're looking forward to a great weekend with one of Israeli dance's top choreographers and teachers - he always gives a fun time and beautiful dances. Don't miss out! Shmulik is an esteemed choreographer and teacher – the sheer number and variety of his dances is astounding! Those who have experienced his teaching will recall his focus on the ethnic, religious and musical background of each dance. Included among the dances he has choreographed are many of our favourites: Eilat, Shabbat Shalom, Hadassah Esther, Lakum Vela'amod, Shalom Aleynu, and Mitachat La'adama. Go to www.macholpacifica.org.nz for all the details, then to the "Forms" page to register. You can register on-line (simple!), pay direct into our bank account, or post a form with a cheque. As a bonus:
Cost: $140 (less discounts) for a weekend of fun, learning, laughs and good friends. There's a list of suggestions on the website to help make it easier for you to attend - look at the "Inspiration" page. We begin on Friday evening, 10th May, with social dancing in the evenings (perhaps a new dance Friday evening), teaching on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and a workshop by Shmulik on Saturday afternoon on “The influence of the Yemenite tradition on Israeli folk dance style”. We officially finish after a Revision session on Sunday afternoon, but will have more social dancing on Sunday evening for those able to stay (well worth a day off work on the Monday!). See the draft programme on the website. Sponsored by Halswell Lodge - just three blocks from the venue: www.halswell.co.nz |
